BACKGROUND SUMMARY

I have over 18 years of professional programming work experience.  I began my professional career in 1990 with British Petroleum (Houston, TX) as a college intern.  I have been an independent contractor/freelancer since 1996.  I have worked on systems ranging from small departmental databases to company-wide databases running across multiple networks.  I am a Microsoft Access Certified Specialist.

I often work on new development projects and my analytical skills help me to pickup on systems already in development and provide further design input.  I've done much EXPORTING/IMPORTING between Excel, Delimited Text Files and Word Documents. My other experience/skills include: creating relational tables, querying tables, designing reports and interactive user screens/forms. 

I’ve provided various training sessions ranging in size from 10 to 100 (company-wide, end-user sessions) trainees.  I was also a teaching assistant and lab instructor in college.  Additionally, I’ve conducted one-on-one designer training sessions with my clients. 

My professional skills include the ability to work step-by-step with the client, user community, management and co-developers through the design process.  My specialties are database querying, data manipulation, system analysis and problem-solving.

  1. Increased speed of Tax Exemption Database updates from 30 minutes to less than 1 minute through the use of proper recordsets (ADO vs. DAO)

  2. Automated process for assigning work to database users.

  3. Automated update process for importing new data through download from Oracle Tables.

  4. Added auto kick-out and inactivity montior shutdown procedures.

  5. Added security and version check for database users.

  6. Migrated backend database from Access to Microsoft SQL Server which greatly increased the speed of the database even through the use of a VPN connection.

CondoTrack (Microsoft Access) – New Process and System Design. Redesign based on existing database which involved creating custom interactive buttons and graphics.  Creating new reports, screen layouts and data processes.

(1)  Implement requested enhancements to Survey Database.  Created solution for TIFF image conflict due to Acess 2003.  Added procedures to capture how much time users are in DB for productivity reports.  (2)  Created new Claims Database based on previous manual operations which involved creating user levels and determined user screen functionalilty based on claim statuses.  Also designed Claims Databse as a SQL-Ready database through use of ADO objects and strict rules for queries.  (3)  Created a central database for Marketing to track key business terms for existing partnerships and capture prospect funnel to track prospect list and timeline to close.  Created Gantt Chart Reports to represent timelines.

Created advanced functions to an existing application for extracting probated properties meeting specified criteria based on market/appraised values and type of property.  Required coding of math functions to compile the extraction sample based on given percentages.

Created Quality Control program for mortgage loan review process.  Created event-triggered modules to assign deficiency codes for tracking the loan review process of underwriters, loan officers and loan processors through reports.

  Created Property Inspection Report System.  The System allows the inspector to input inspection data and output into format required by the Texas Real Estate Commission for licensed Texas Inspectors. I also created a process for transferring individual reports between company sites through use of e-mail.  The system tracks orders and allows them to be assigned to appropriate inspectors.  The most important task was to create a module to accept varying comment data sizes and to reformat any amount of data that the inspector supplied to the inspection form REI7A-0.  This was accomplished by resizing of comment areas and perform page renumbering as necessary. Designed Access databases and a front-end for the Asset Management group to collect operation/construction costs.  Programmed queries and code for unique reports necessary to compute cost estimates for future asset planning.

Designed Access database and front-end consisting of forms and reports for collection of equity research data.  Purpose of database was to simplify extraction of comparison data between specific health companies through data entry and query searches.
